About the role
ASSA ABLOY is looking for a Technical Writing Manager who will lead a global documentation team while actively contributing as a technical writer. You will work with products within ASSA ABLOY’s Business Segment Pedestrian (BSP). Key products include sliding doors, swing doors, revolving doors, and entrance security control products. ASSA ABLOY's door automation solutions serve millions of people in public environments, and they take pride in following several national and international safety standards without compromising on user experience, energy efficiency, or sustainability.

Work tasks
As Technical Writing Manager, you will lead a global documentation team and work across multiple technical areas in a dynamic environment. The role combines operational technical writing with clear leadership responsibility, where you ensure that technical information is transformed into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation tailored to the right audience.
You will create text and visual content using tools such as SolidWorks Composer and Adobe Illustrator, and manage documentation in CCMS tools such as Quanos Schema ST4. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring high-quality documentation that meets international safety requirements and aligns with agile product development methodologies and timelines. Furthermore, your responsibilities will include:
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, such as manuals, installation guides, service documentation, and product labels, by gathering information from experts in mechanics, software, electronics, and sourcing.
- Define team goals and implement documentation strategies, as well as take responsibility for documentation standards, templates, best practices, and tool selection, focusing on efficient workflows and continuous process improvement.
- Manage the team's operational activities by delegating tasks and setting clear priorities for both direct reports and global contributors.
- Take responsibility for coaching, mentorship, and career planning, as well as managing recruitment, onboarding, and salary management for the team's employees.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, product development, marketing, and sourcing, as well as other internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and consistent documentation.
We are looking for
- A Bachelor’s degree in technical communication or engineering, along with solid experience as a Technical Writer within a technical or engineering-led environment
- Confidence in leading and coaching teams, preferably within a global matrix organization.
- Experience with software-controlled electromechanical products and proficiency in working with agile methodologies such as Jira/Confluence and Kanban/Scrum.
- Fluency in English, with the ability to use the language professionally in both speech and writing.
- Proficiency in creating technical illustrations using tools like SolidWorks Composer and Adobe Illustrator.
It is meritorious if you have
- Experience with CCMS tools such as Quanos Schema ST4.
- Knowledge of international safety standards and regulatory requirements for documentation.
- Basic knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
