Electrical Safety Specialist to global technology company

About the role

As an Electrical Safety Specialist, you will step into a pivotal technical specialist role within our client’s R&D organization. In this position, you will work closely with product development teams, testing engineers, manufacturing personnel, and external certification bodies. Your core focus will be to identify electrical safety risks early in the development lifecycle, define effective risk-reduction measures, and ensure that all technical solutions are thoroughly documented. You will work extensively with electrical cabinets, cabling, electric motors, and safety risk assessments, applying your meticulous nature and understanding of both electrical systems and mechanics to prevent late-stage redesigns and ensure products are safe and market-ready.

In this role, you act as the vital bridge between practical engineering design and regulatory compliance. You will interpret complex safety standards-such as IEC/EN 60204-1, UL 1740, NFPA 79, and the EU Machinery Regulation-and translate them into actionable engineering requirements for development teams. You will join a specialist group of around 25 colleagues within a broader R&D department (which also includes a strong team of mechanical designers), giving you a broad cross-functional reach. Your daily work will combine analytical assessments, reviewing electrical schematics and layouts, and representing the company during internal and external audits and certification processes.

Work tasks

• Perform and support electrical safety risk assessments for robotic systems and industrial machinery.
• Define and verify risk-reduction measures for electrical cabinets, cabling, drive motors, and operational practices.
• Interpret electrical safety standards (e.g., IEC/EN 60204-1, UL 1740, NFPA 79) and translate them into practical engineering requirements.
• Review electrical designs, schematics, and layouts for compliance with safety standards and functional requirements.
• Support R&D projects early in the development cycle to ensure compliance and prevent costly late-stage redesigns.
• Support internal and external audits, inspections, and conformity assessment activities with third-party certification bodies.
• Contribute to compliance efforts in related domains, including ISO 10218 (robot safety) and EMC directives.
• Establish and maintain structured, accurate, and high-quality technical documentation.

We are looking for

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
• Solid experience working with electrical systems, control cabinets, cabling, or drive systems/electric motors in industrial machinery or robotics.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., IEC, EN, UL, NFPA, and EU Machinery Directive/Regulation).
• Demonstrated experience reading, interpreting, and reviewing electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience from R&D, product development, or working with certification and compliance processes.
• An understanding of mechanical engineering principles and how electronics and mechanics interact within complex automated systems.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

It is meritorious if you have

• Experience working in E-Plan.
• Background from similar major industrial environments (e.g., automotive, battery, or power industries).
• Knowledge of Swedish or additional languages.
