Your employment is regulated by a collective agreement

As a consultant at Academic Work your employment is regulated by a collective agreement, in your case an agreement for white collar consultants. The collective agreement controls for example your salary model and how you are compensated for overtime and uncomfortable working hours. More examples are pension, rules and compensations for vacation, as well as salary revision.

The salary model for fulltime consultants

Your wage is specified in the employment contract that you and your Consultant Manager went through when signing your contract. Do you have questions regarding your salary? Please contact your Consultant Manager.

The salary model for part-time consultants

As a part-time consultant, you are paid for worked hours. The reason behind this is that you only work when needed or when available, and have another main occupation outside of your employment at Academic Work (for example studies). This needs to be proved to your Consultant Manager, for example by handing in a study certificate. Your exact hourly pay is stated in your employment contract, and also in your payslip.

Payslip

How you recieve your payslip vary depending if you are employed as a full-time or part-time consultant. Part-time consultants receive their payslips by email, usually in the middle or second half of the current month. Full-time consultants receive their payslips in the Benify-portal, usually in the middle or second half of the current month. When your payslip is published in Benify, you get a notification in your inbox. Simply log into the portal to take part of your document. Your Benify-account is registered on the same email-address that you used when you registered a profile on academicwork.se. If you wish to save or print your payslip, you can do so in Benify.
If you have any questions regarding the information in your payslip, please contact your Consultant Manager.

Tax

How much you pay in tax is regulated by the Swedish tax agency Skatteverket and depends on if you are employed as a full- or part-time consultant. How much you pay in taxes for one month is specified in your payslip. If you are interested in knowing how much taxes you need to pay, we recommend you contact Skatteverket. If you do not make an active choice or any changes regarding how much you pay in tax, Academic Work will apply following rules:

  • Full-time employment: Tax table 33 + 10% on all amounts
  • Part-time employment: 30% tax since the income of your employment is not your main income

If you wish to pay less or more in tax than stated above, please contact your Consultant Manager.

Inconvenient working hours

Inconvenient working hours refer to work that is scheduled outside of weekdays 7am-6pm. Special compensation is given in accordance to the collective agreement at between 27.5% and 111.3% for work that is performed during uncomfortable working hours.

If you have any questions about inconvenient working hours, turn to your Consultant Manager.

Overtime

In terms of overtime, the rules of the client company apply. Overtime must always be ordered in advance or approved afterwards by your supervisor (or someone else at the client company). When you report your worked time, you need to submit a comment about who has approved the overtime.

If there are no rules for overtime at the client company, the rules in our collective agreement apply. Ask your Consultant Manager if you are unsure of what applies to your specific assignment.

In accordance with the collective agreement, you cannot receive compensation for both overtime and uncomfortable working hours at the same time. Instead, you will always get the compensation that is most beneficial to you.

Travel and expenses

If you are ordered to travel in duty and outside of your service area you are entitled to travel time compensation. This compensates you for actual time you spend on travelling to the destination. If the travel time is during ordinary working hours, you are not entitled to the compensation.

In addition to the travel time compensation you have the possibility to get an allowance for increased expenditure if you travel to a destination outside of your service area, with or without an overnight stay. The allowance for increased expenditure aims to compensate you for e.g. food costs. The amount you are entitled to will vary depending on the type of travel. If you wish to be compensated for your travel, fill in the form for traktamentesräkning (Swedish) and send to your Consultant Manager for approval. In case you have used your own car to travel, you may also be entitled to mileage allowance by filling out this form and sending it to your Consultant Manager.

If you make any other expenses on your own in connection to your trip, you are entitled to full compensation if the expense is not covered by the allowance for increased expenditure. In that case you need to account for all original receipts in a form for receipts and travel expenses. The form is sent to your Consultant Manager.

If you need to travel in duty, Academic Work's travel policy applies in all cases.

If you have any questions regarding travel and expenses, please contact your Consultant Manager.

Working hours for full-time consultants

As a full-time consultant your working hours will most likely be the same as for the employees of the client company where you have your assignment. Your Consultant Manager and supervisor at the client company are together responsible for informing you about which working hours you should follow.

Working hours for part-time consultants

As a part-time consultant you will most likely only work when you are available and needed at the client company. This could mean that your working hours may differ from other employee´s hours at the client company. Your schedule is more flexible and can be adapted to both the needs of the client and your availability.

Around our offices there is a function that works with scheduling our major student assignments. This function is called Staffing Service (Bemanningservice in Swedish). For more information about our Staffing Service and how your working hours and scheduling will look, talk to your Consultant Manager.

Leave and absence

Report absence: Since you are employed at Academic Work you need to inform us if you, of any reason, cannot work at your assignment as planned. For us to be able to fulfill our responsibility in supporting you during for example sick leave, and to give you the correct compensation in those cases it is of great importance that you contact your Consultant Manager and report your absence as soon as possible.

Sick pay

According to Swedish laws and regulations on sick pay, you are entitled to compensation when getting ill.

Routine in case of absence: If you should be absent sometime, you must notify your Consultant Manager and supervisor at the client company as soon as possible. Your period of absence usually begins to apply as soon as the notice has been given.

From the 8th calendar day in your absence period, your absence must be confirmed by a doctor’s note or medical certificate. The doctors note, or certificate is sent to your Consultant Manager and is a prerequisite for you as an employee to receive continued sick pay after the 8th calendar day. If there are special reasons, we as an employer have the right to request a doctor’s note or certificate already on the first day of absence.

When you come back to work, no later than the last day of the actual month, you need to send a written declaration to your Consultant Manager confirming your absence period.
