Vacation and benefits

On this page, you can read more about regulations on vacation and what benefits we offer you as a full-time and part-time consultant.

Application form for vacation

Vacation for full-time consultants

According to Swedish law and regulations on vacation, full-time consultants are entitled to 25 days of vacation a year.

Your first year as a consultant is a so-called qualifying year (intjänande år in Swedish) were you earn your paid vacation days. For every worked month you earn about two paid vacation days. The vacation, also called qualifying year, run from April 1st to March 31st. This means that you get 25 new vacation days April 1st every year. If you were hired between April 1st and August 31st, you have 25 unpaid vacation days, while you have 5 unpaid vacation days if you were hired between September 1st and March 31st.

If your employment at Academic Work ends, all earned and unused paid vacation days will be compensated shortly after your final salary. If you want to know more about your paid vacation days, talk to your Consultant Manager or look at your payslip for more information.

If you wish to go on vacation, your Consultant Manager must approve your application. We also recommend that you talk to your supervisor at the client company to ensure that it is an appropriate and possible time for you to go on vacation.

Vacation for part-time consultants

As a part-time consultant you get compensation for vacation on your hourly pay, instead of getting compensation in paid vacation days. This is regulated in the collective bargaining agreement. The compensation is specified as vacation allowance (Semesterersättning in Swedish) in your employment contract and in your payslip.

If you as a part-time consultant wish to have some time off, and thereby not be available for work, it will be registered as unpaid leave and must in all cases be approved by your Consultant Manager.

Parental leave

As a consultant at Academic Work you have the right to parental leave, whether you work full- or part-time. Please fill in the form for parental leave and send it to your Consultant Manager. If you have been employed as a consultant for at least one year at Academic Work, you also have the right to a supplementary parental salary in addition the general parental insurance from Försäkringskassan. The supplementary parental salary is regulated in the general collective bargaining agreement. If you want more information regarding parental salary, please contact your Consultant Manager. For more information about the general parental insurance, visit Försäkringskassan.

Period of notice

What period of notice should apply in your case is stated in your employment contract and is regulated by the general collective agreement. Contact your Consultant Manager if you have any questions regarding your period of notice. According to Swedish laws and regulations, a notice must always be given in written form.

Union membership and A-kassa

We recommend that you contact an appropriate union for more information about collective bargaining agreements, and an A-kassa for more information about the Swedish unemployment insurance. Suggestions for appropriate unions and A-kassa are AEA, Jusek or Unionen.

The course is digital, takes around 1,5 hours to complete, and you can start it at any time. You find the course on the consultant web, under "Mina kurser" in the left side menu.

Contact your Consultant Manager for further dialogue about on how we can support you in this and help you build your career.

Pension and insurance

As a consultant at Academic Work, we want you to always feel safe. Therefore, we make sure that you are insured in case of occupational injury (TFA), which applies during working hours and when travelling to and from work. If you work at least eight hours per week, you also get an occupational group life insurance (TGL). The TGL insurance provides your family, or another beneficiary with a tax-exempt lump sum payment in the case of your death before retirement.

In addition to your retirement pension (Inkomstpension), Academic Work provides an occupational pension called SAF-LO (Tjänstepension), to all consultants that are 25 years of age or older. As a complement to your retirement and occupational pension Academic Work adds a complementary flex pension (BEP) that is negotiated according to the general collective bargaining agreement.

The administrator for the pension is Collectum. For questions regarding your pension plan and how much pension is deposited, contact your Consultant Manager. More information and how you can manage your money, can be found on Collectum.
